Tools for teachers and parents

Tools for teachers and parents

classroomToday I bring you some tools that can be helpful in the classroom, and at home.  This is just a few tools for you to consider that I came across online.

Wind Map

This wind map was not produced by a business of any sort.  It was created by just a person that loves this sort of thing.  It is NOT 100% accurate. It shows the wind speed all over the United States.  It is animated.  If the map teaches anything to students, the one thing it will teach is that wind and direction is always changing.  I don’t believe two students will have the same stats as in low speed, and high.  Thus students will see how fast the wind is always changing.

Digital diagnostic tool kit

The digital diagnostic tool kit is for teachers. The tool helps teachers to choose the best device for their class, school or district.  There is a lot for teachers to have to consider when choosing a device for the classroom.  This tool helps to sort out the options.   Includes a video.

Neil Armstrong remembered

This really isn’t a tool, but the concept is really good.  Search the net for relevant world history videos on a subject.  Done very well too from what I have seen.  This is a series of videos on Neil Armstrong.  Check out the website, and be sure to bookmark.

Create cartoons at Toondoo

This tool allows people or even students to create their own cartoons.  Even teachers can do this!  Can you imagine asking your students to make a cartoon describing in as less words as they can what they learned today?  I can!

Visual Anatomy – An App for iPad

Visual Anatomy is just cool for students.  Plus I can see the brownie points that teachers will get for recommending it to their students.  This app looks to be geared towards high school students studying anatomy.   There is a free, and a pay version of this App.  Check it out teachers this App looks to be very promising.  The free version is not too shabby either.

Parent’s guide to students success

Guide to student success is a very good bookmark for parents, and teachers.  But mainly this is for parents, but if you happen to be a new teacher I believe you could use this as a guide too.  Each student success guide is geared towards each school grade Kindergarten through high school.  There is an English and Spanish version.

THIS GUIDE INCLUDES
■ An overview of some of the key things your child
will learn for each grade.
■ Ideas for activities to help your child learn at
home.
■ Topics of discussion for talking to your child’s
teacher about his or her academic progress.
■ Each grade has its own PDF file.

 Parenting Magazine

Parenting magazine has a very nice page for parents all related to your child’s success in school.  The name of the page is Countdown to school success.  This page is packed with tools, guides, and ideas.  It is a must see! Don’t forget to “Download the Countdown to School Success guide” located on the left side.  This is a PDF that has valuable information for parents to help their scholars.  Included are free materials and tips to help your child get the best education possible.
