Are you a seventh grader? School is all about you
Are you a seventh grader? School is all about you
I can’t help but think about seventh graders. They have six years to go if you include the seventh grade. Some think of school as just school, and nothing more. It’s ho hum and boring as crap. They don’t see it as a career making opportunity. They just see it as a job to do every day.
Everyone knows what McDonald’s is. Many high schoolers know that McDonald’s is just a job. It’s not a career unless they love the fast food industry and you have plans to create your own fast food business then you are not planning to be working at McDonald’s after your teen days are over with.
All seventh graders and above have six years or less to go to public school. There is no way for you to get out of it. Might as well face the fact that you have to go to school. But have you ever thought about changing how you feel about school? School is not anything like McDonald’s.
If you change how you feel about school you can think about school as being a career making opportunity instead of the “must do” “can’t get out of job.” Make school work for you. Yes you take the courses you need so you can graduate. But how many of those subjects can you take that will benefit your career path?
Look at school differently. See it as something that will benefit, and help you. In the past it was always what the teacher wanted, and what your parents expected of you. You have also been accustomed to thinking of your world in the here and now. But now you are at an advantage. It’s what you want. School need not be a job, but it can be the beginning of your career path. Look at school in this way, and you will see that school can work for you.
Decide now what you want to do as a career. If you can’t narrow it down to one then pick two. What do you love to do? Can you make a career out of it? Now decide what you need to do now in school to help you achieve the career. If you center your career on the things you love to do then your career will never be a job it will always be a career that you don’t mind going to work each day. Your career will always be fun, and rewarding.
Take courses that will help your career path. Now join forums, and groups that cater to your career choice. Soon you will forget about school as being a job. You will think of it as a career opportunity. Your subjects you pick in school will reflect that and you no longer will see school as just a job to do. The benefits you will gain for taking this approach will stay with you for the rest of your life. School will no longer look like a fast food job. Seventh through twelfth grade will be the beginning of your career.
You have an opportunity that many in the past did not have. That opportunity is seeing school in a new light. As harsh as it seems you can’t baby yourself anymore. This is the time for you to start thinking ahead instead of the here and now.
Take advantage of all opportunities offered to you in the class, and on the Internet. Many subjects are free. It is far better for you to find out now if your career is a good match for you instead of waiting until you get to a university to find out. Forums and groups online have a wealth of information for you. Use them as tools to help you grow your future.
