Education is getting very cool

I am passionate when it comes to education.  If anything can pull a child out of poverty it will be education.  If anything can help a child the most in life, it is also education.  This nine letter word should know no boundaries.  It should never look at the color of your skin, check to see what gender you are. Never should it deny you if you are handicapped. It should never check to see if you are religious or not, or deny you because of your type of Religion, or check your political status.  Neither should it care if you are rich or poor, and never should care if you live in the far reaches of Africa, in the United Kingdom,  or in the High Plains of the United States .  Regardless if your town is poor or not, you should be able to get a good education without boundaries.

Standardized testing woes

The American Disabilities Act had at least forty-eight cases filed, and then fixed in the year of 2011 that I know of.  I am sure there are plenty more.   Did you know that the companies responsible for giving the standardized testing to the students like the SAT, bar exam and other high-stakes tests also have to follow the ADA rules?  Well they do, and it has been under the radar for having problems with the testing procedures, plus with the rule book they have in place for taking the test.

Building your own digital resources

Building your own digital resources

For some time, teachers have been encouraged to use textbooks as a reference, while building much of the course content from other sources, the idea being to get away from the practice of simply “covering” the pages in a textbook. Now, with the propagation of digital textbooks in education, one complaint is digital textbooks are nothing more than digital replicas of a text that isn’t fully sufficient. Digital textbooks lack the interactive features you might expect them to have. For teachers who are looking for a more interactive digital experience for their students, either digital texts or print copies can be supplemented by seeking out or even creating interactive support for the course or lesson.
